Rubbish Removal in Glasgow
Junk, furniture, garden and DIY waste removed from homes, rentals and businesses across Glasgow – sorted and recycled wherever possible.
- Licensed local partners across Skip Hire Glasgow
- Waste paperwork provided with every job
- Free, no-obligation quotes
Rubbish removal covers almost anything you need gone: a garage full of junk, the leftovers from a bathroom refit, old furniture after a move or a rental flat left in a poor state by previous tenants. Skips Glasgow arranges it all across Glasgow and the surrounding towns through Waste Cloud’s network of licensed local partners.
We look at what you have and recommend the right method. Smaller and harder-to-reach loads are usually best done by a man-with-van crew who load it for you; larger amounts produced over time may suit a skip. Either way, the waste is taken to a licensed facility and sorted, so metal, wood, card and rubble are recovered rather than sent to landfill.

Who uses rubbish removal
Homeowners use it for clear-outs before selling or after renovations. Landlords and letting agents use it between tenancies, when a flat in Pollokshields or a HMO in the West End needs emptying quickly so it can be cleaned and relet. Small businesses use it for stockrooms, back offices and yards that have built up over time.
Property factors also use rubbish removal for shared areas, such as cellars, bin stores and back courts in tenement blocks, where nobody is quite sure who owns what has been left behind.
Sorting, recycling and the rules
Scotland has strict rules on what can be landfilled, so licensed facilities sort mixed rubbish into recyclable streams. Some items have to be kept separate from the start: upholstered sofas and armchairs may contain persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and need separate handling, while fridges, TVs and other electricals are collected as WEEE.
Hazardous items such as paint, chemicals and gas bottles are special waste in Scotland and cannot go in with general rubbish. Mention them when you ask for a quote and we will arrange the right route – see hazardous waste disposal.
Protect yourself from rogue collectors
Cheap “we’ll take anything” offers on social media are a common source of fly-tipping around Glasgow. If your waste is dumped, it can be traced back to you. Always use a SEPA-registered carrier, and if you are a business, make sure you receive a waste transfer note. Every partner we work with is registered and takes waste to authorised sites.
Householders can check a carrier’s registration on SEPA’s public register before handing anything over. A legitimate collector will be happy to tell you their registration and where your waste is going.

Rubbish Removal – your questions answered
Can’t see your question? Call 0333 121 1056 or send us a message.
How quickly can rubbish be removed in Glasgow?
Next-day and sometimes same-day collection is possible where locally available, depending on the volume, the area and partner capacity. If you are working to a deadline, such as a tenancy changeover, let us know when you request a quote.
Do I need to bag everything up first?
It helps but is not essential. Loose items and furniture are fine. Bagging small bits speeds up loading and can reduce the cost. Keep any hazardous items such as paint tins separate and mention them in advance.
Can you remove a sofa along with other rubbish?
Yes, but upholstered seating is collected and treated separately because it may contain POPs. The partner will keep it apart from the rest of the load. For individual large items, see bulky waste collection.
Do you cover towns outside the city?
Yes, rubbish removal is available in surrounding areas such as Paisley, Renfrew, Bearsden, Rutherglen, Motherwell and Coatbridge through our licensed local partners. Enter your postcode in the quote form and we will confirm what is available.
