Moving offices, downsizing or handing back a lease usually leaves a lot behind: desks, chairs, filing cabinets, partitions, meeting-room furniture, boxes of paperwork and old IT. An office clearance removes it all in a planned, efficient way so your move or fit-out can start on time.
Skips Glasgow arranges office clearances across Glasgow city centre, the IFSD, the Clyde waterfront and business parks throughout the surrounding area, carried out by Waste Cloud’s network of licensed local partners. Crews work around building management rules, goods lifts and loading bay bookings, and can work out of hours where the building requires it.
Every clearance is covered by a waste transfer note, and IT equipment can be routed through specialist WEEE recycling. Request a quote to get started.
Planning around your building
City-centre office buildings in Glasgow often have strict rules: booked loading bay slots, goods lift reservations, protection for common areas and restricted access on Blythswood Hill and around George Square. Tell us about these up front and the partner will plan the clearance in phases if needed, so the building manager is kept happy and your deposit is protected.
For larger moves, a site visit or a walk-through video helps the partner plan the right number of crew and vehicles.
IT, confidential paper and electricals
Old computers, monitors, printers, phones and servers are WEEE and must be recycled separately from general office waste. Equipment containing batteries – laptops, UPS units, phones – should be declared when you request a quote. Where drives hold sensitive data, see IT equipment disposal and secure data destruction; partners can provide certificates of destruction on request.
Confidential paper should be kept separate and flagged so it can go for secure shredding rather than general recycling. Mention roughly how many boxes or sacks you have.
Reuse and recycling
Much office furniture is in good condition when it leaves. Where possible, partners can route reusable desks and chairs to resale or reuse schemes, and the rest is broken down into metal, wood and plastic streams. That helps your business meet its own environmental targets and reduces what goes to landfill.
If you are handing back a lease, check the dilapidations schedule first. Some landlords expect carpets, partitions or fitted kitchens to be removed, while others want certain fixtures left in place. Clearing exactly what the lease requires avoids paying twice.

Office Clearance – your questions answered
Can’t see your question? Call 0333 121 1056 or send us a message.
Can an office clearance be done outside working hours?
Often, yes. Many Glasgow buildings require noisy or disruptive work to happen early, late or at weekends. Let us know your building’s requirements and the partner will advise on what can be arranged.
What happens to our old computers and hard drives?
IT equipment is sent for WEEE recycling rather than general waste. If drives contain data, they can be wiped or physically destroyed, and partners can provide certificates of destruction on request. Please declare any equipment containing batteries when you request a quote.
Do we get paperwork for the clearance?
Yes. You receive a waste transfer note describing the waste and where it went, which you should keep for at least two years as part of your Duty of Care.
Can you clear a business unit rather than an office?
Yes. Shops, warehouses and industrial units are cleared in the same way. For one-off business waste that is not an office fit-out, see commercial waste collection, which covers stock, shopfittings and yard waste.
